After a hard workout, your body needs protein to rebuild. The older we get, the more that matters. So I want to share one of my go-to recovery drinks.
Why I like it: it's simple, it tastes great, and you probably already have everything you need in your kitchen.
What you'll need
- 2 scoops Organic Grass-Fed Whey Protein Isolate (32 grams of protein)
- 1 frozen banana (or a handful of ice if you want fewer carbs)
- 1 tablespoon nut butter (I like almond)
- 8 to 12 ounces unsweetened vanilla almond milk (or regular almond milk with a splash of vanilla)
How to make it
- Put everything in your blender.
- Blend until smooth and creamy.
- Drink up.
Want to change it up? Add a pinch of cinnamon or a few walnuts.
Why it works
There are only a few ingredients, but this one pulls its weight. You get protein to help your muscles recover, healthy fat from the nut butter, and some carbs from the banana to refill your tank. It's sweet enough without any added sugar.
Because our protein is unflavored, the banana and vanilla do all the flavor work. No fake sweeteners, no aftertaste.
Try to have it within an hour or so after your workout. It also works as a quick breakfast when you're heading out the door.
